Meet Sandra

Hello! I am Sandra Huber, the soul and parent consultant  behind the Soulful Parent. Thank you for stopping by!

I want to share with you how I ended up following my heart in a most unconventional way.

I worked in the aerospace industry as a Manufacturing Engineer until the miracle of giving birth to my one and only child. The day my daughter was born changed my life forever. I gave up my engineering career and although my husband and I struggle financially while I stayed at home and he went back to school, the time as a stay-at-home-mom allowed me some soul searching to find my true passion.

I decided to go back to work when our daughter was 3 years old with the idea that my work had to have meaning if I was to take time away from my family. I worked in Early Intervention and Special Needs for a few years before I decided to go back to school and become a Certified Parent Coach . Life has an interesting way of showing us our path, as I found out after a very unpleasant “break-up” with my place of employment at the time. Playing it safe was up!

I started my first “Soulpreneur” business adventure on the heels of losing my job and no matter how hard the road has been at times, I have never looked back. I followed my certification as a parent coach with training from The ScreamFree Institute and became a certified leader.

I have to confess that even though I had some great tools, read many of the business books, learned from many of the experts out there calling themselves “gurus” I couldn’t make a “go” of my new career as a parent coach: it seemed as if nothing worked. I did every single thing many of these experts recommended me to do, exactly the way they told me to do it. Many times the advice was conflicting! Until finally, I realized that I had to listen to my gut and I try some of the crazy ideas that were growing in my heart, the belief that I could make an impact in the world, by supporting families AND make a good living at it. I guess you can say I am a dreamer!

I was blessed with amazing, generous people who crossed my path at the right time. and who were willing to share of their knowledge and wisdom with me. I also had the privilege of connecting with other parents that were tired of looking for answers outside of themselves. I decided to create a The Soulful Parent Facebook community, where parents had free access to support, ideas, articles but most of all, to the encouragement each provides. I also devoted a lot of time to offering suggestions and what I like to call “food for thought” to an increasingly supportive community on Twitter.

And you know what? it worked.

I am enjoying this opportunity to serve in ways I never anticipated. I have my own weekly Blog Talk Radio Show, The Soulful Mom and an audio blog. I have become a specialist in unconventional, non-boring parenting strategies. My clients are savvy, clever moms who love their children and understand that parenting is an inside job! They get that it has nothing to do with the latest book, seminar, or expert but a lot to do with the commitment they have made to become the best moms they are meant to be!

I am no longer shy to admit that the moms that have worked with me refer to my approach as “Kind.”, “Compassionate.”, “Practical.”, “Doable.” and “Relevant”. “Fun.” “Simple.” “Insightful.” “Intuitive.” “Energizing.” “Honest.” “Encouraging” and “Powerful” are a few of the things moms like you have said about working with me.

I may never do parenting just “right” or the way anyone else says it should be done.  But I promise you I will never let you forget that YOU are the expert on your kids. I am here to show you how “unconventional parenting” can really work.
